Kate Hudson – Printmaker

Award winning artist Kate Hudson will be the first ‘Featured Artist’ to exhibit at Tussock Upstairs this year.

Kate is an Australian artist specializing in limited edition linocut prints in black & white and colour. She uses native birds, flowers and domestic items to make her highly patterned and decorative prints.

Kate studied Textile Design at the Central School of Art & Design, London and became a Freelance textile designer prior to moving to Australia

In 2005 Kate was awarded a APW Collie Print Trust Emerging Victorian Printmaker’s Scholarship. Since then she has had many solo exhibitions and her works have been included in many art exhibitions and award shows

In 2010, 2012 and 2013 she was a finalist in the Australia wide Silk Cut Award for linocut prints.

Currently her designs are being incorporated in a range of Catherine Manuell bags and purses

Kate has had her work acquired for many local, national and international collections including the:

Aichi Prefectural Government, Japan, Austin Hospital, Australian Print Workshop, Australian Unity, City of Darebin?,City of Whitehorse?, Crown Casino?, Geelong Gallery?, National Gallery of Australia, Nillumbik Shire Council

Other artist’s works on show include Sue Cumming, Janet Goldman, Anne Hastie, Jane Kempe, Anne Spudvilas, Bevan Shepherd, Paul Waycott, Joel Wolter, and the Tussock Upstairs Printmaking group.

The opening of the ‘March Collection’ will on Saturday March 7th 3.00pm – 5pm. At the opening Kate will present a floor talk with reference to the works exhibited.

The exhibition commences on March 2nd and concludes on March 29th 2015
